Free Online Lessons in Roulette Rules

Our free roulette guide has now reached the roulette rule station. Having given some online roulette rules, we’ll now give some more. Online roulette rules are similar to the rules used in physical casino. You may probably find a slight difference in just one or two roulette rules.

While playing a roulette game, you select a number and place your bet. Once the bet is placed, you click spin and when the wheel stops spinning and the ball is settled on one slot, the winning number will be decided.

There are three variants of roulette’. We’ll now provide you with a set of standard roulette rules applicable to most online roulette games.

The rules discussed here are supplemantry to the betting rules and payoffs that were discussed in Learn For Free How to Play Roulette Games and ‘Free Online Visual guide to roulette.’

Rule 1: The House Advantage

The house advantage on a single zero (0) roulette is 2.7% whereas the house advantage rises to 5.26% on a roulette wheel with two zeros (00).

The complete list of house advantages on a double zero (00) roulette table can be found below:

Rule 2: The 'En Prison' Rule

This online roulette rule is applied only to even bets and not all casinos follow it.

According to this rule, if the outcome after the spin is zero (0), casinos offer the player to either take half of his wagered money or leave the bet in prison (en prison) for another spin. In case the result is the same on the second spin too, then the wagered amount is lost.

Rule 3: The 'La Partage' Rule

This roulette rule is quite similar to the en prison rule. As per the rule the player loses half his money if zero (0) is the outcome of a spin and there is no option of leaving the money in prison.

This points to the 'outside' even-money bets on High/Low, Red/Black,and Odd/Even.

Note

The two roulette rules described above, the En Prison and La Partage rule, cut the casino's advantage on ‘even money bets’ by half. Hence, a bet on Red on a single zero (0) table in a casino where any of the two rules has a house advantage of just 1.35% and of 2.63% on a double zero (00) table.

Rule 4: General Zero(0) Rule

Bets on even, odd, low, high red, and black, will be lost if the ball settles in the slot marked zero (0) at the end of a spin.
